Security Groups in 4PS Construct Business Central Admin Centre

Did you know that in Business Central you can now add an extra level of security to your environments at the admin centre level?

This extra level of security prevents users from logging into the Business Central environment, even if they have a full user licence and super permissions.

4PS can provide you with a PowerShell script that reads a csv file, allowing you to add and remove users in bulk, saving you extra IT overhead. The script checks the users login details and associated SKU of your licence and links the two together to assign the licence.

Then, with the licenses assigned in Microsoft 365 you can sync 4PS which will automatically create and/or update the users in 4PS with the new licence(s).

This security level might be useful if you were testing the next release of Business Central and wanted to keep the testing limited to a particular team, or, if you have separate Business Central instances per business unit, you could prevent employees from moving within environments.

In the example shown below, if the user is not in the BC Prod Users group, then they will receive a message stating they do not have access and to contact their administrator.
